October 24, 2009 meeting:
We had a pretty good turn-out for our fall Chicken barbeque/monthly meeting (about 25 people). A huge thanks to Gus and Barb Jenkins for once again hosting the event at Oak Hill Golf Course. Also, thanks to Tom, Norm and Jim for cooking the chicken – it was good as always! Everyone had a great time and left there stuffed!
At our September meeting of the Officers and Board of Directors, we made some changes to the Club’s By-laws. With this newsletter, you will find a copy of the revised By-laws. We are asking all members to review these by-laws as we will be voting on approving the changes at our December meeting. If you would like to vote in person, we encourage you to do so. If you will be unable to attend our December meeting/Christmas Party, we have enclosed a Proxy Vote form for you to send in with your approval for a proxy vote.
We have submitted for our Grant-in-Aid money from the State so that we can do some more major work on the trails where it is needed. We will be doing some more work on some of the bridges that need work.
We are looking into some new places to sell our memberships. Meredith Center Store, New Hampton Auto and Meredith Bait Shop are locations that have expressed interest. We will be bringing our membership forms to those locations, so that people can sign up with our club when they register their sleds.
NOTE: The State is increasing the registration fees effective 7/1/10. Vanity plates are now available for an additional $20.00. However, the deadline was 10/24, so keep it in mind for next year. If you are interested, you will need to get your registration in early.
Rhonda, Jef and Todd all attended the Grass Drags in Freemont on October 11th to explore opportunities for our club to become involved and raise some money. Possibilities include volunteering for various tasks at the Drags, selling food, having a table set up to register members and hand out club information. We will be exploring this further for next year. We also discussed the possibility of setting up a tent for Fishing Derby Weekend selling hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn, and/or 50/50 raffle tickets. If anyone has any other ideas, please feel free to share them with us.
NH Snowmobile Association is hosting a Night at the Manchester Monarchs to benefit Camp Sno-Mo on November 7th. For ticket information, call the NHSA office at 603-273-0220. November 21st will be the Annual Trailmaster Meeting and Groomer Training. Norm McGuigan will be attending the Groomer Training this year.
IMPORTANT: We have begun our weekly trail cutting and trail improvements work on Sundays. We could sure use more help in order to get the trails in shape before the snow flies. We meet at the Meredith McDonalds at 8:00 am each Sunday morning. If you have any appropriate tools, such as chain saws, brush cutters, etc., please bring them along. It would be great to see some more new faces helping out this year. Remember, we are working on the trails YOU enjoy riding on. PLEASE come out and help at least once. We all like to ride and should be willing to help make the trails the best they can be. We did purchase a used Ranger enclosed cab four wheel utility vehicle for use on trail maintenance and grooming. It has come in very helpful already!
The various clubs in Belknap County will again be doing a County-wide trail map which will show all of each club’s trails. The printing of the maps will be funded by business ads which will be placed on the map. If anyone is interested in purchasing a map, please send a check for $5.00 per map and we will get them out to you.
Reminder - We also have the Super Raffle tickets available. They are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. The prizes this year are a 2010 Arctic Cat Sno Pro 500 snowmobile, a 2009 Ski-Doo MX Z 550X snowmobile, a $1,000.00 gas card from Irving Oil Company, and a $500.00 gas card from Irving Oil Company. (Winner will select the prize of their choice in the order drawn from those remaining). If you are interested in any raffle tickets, please include a note and payment along with your membership form, and I will send them to you. All tickets need to be in to our club no later than Feb. 1, 2010 so that we can get the ticket stubs to the State in time for the drawing on Feb 7th.
Our annual Christmas party will be held on Saturday, December 12th at Oak Hill Golf Course. More details to follow. Please keep the date in mind.
Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 11th at the Meredith Center Fire Station at 7:00 pm. All members are welcome to attend.
